Lucciana Costa

is the teenage granddaughter of jazz great Eddie Costa. Lucciana has performed in New York City, Austin Texas and the local area of South Eastern Michigan.  In Austin, Lucciana has "sat in" with pedal steel great Kim Deschamps. She has also sung with Sony recording artist Charlie Robison in Cleveland, Ohio and West Virginia.

She started singing formally with the Columbus Children's Choir in Columbus, Ohio when she was six years old. Growing up Lucciana developed a strong attraction to country music where she first heard the sound of the resonator guitar. At twelve years old, with her own money, she bought her first resonator guitar and taught herself how to play. Lucciana then attended several workshops and jams in Nashville and other areas learning from other experienced musicians.

At thirteen Lucciana joined the Ann Arbor band Smithville. The band was a four piece acoustic band that played American roots, country and original music. Lucciana played dobro and shared the vocal leads with singer/ songwriter David Rossiter. Smithville disbanded after a year and Lucciana occasionally performed as a solo act in Ann Arbor accompanied by various rhythm guitar players. While playing with Smithville, Lucciana met fiddle/ mandolin player Colin Murphy.

After Smithville, Colin was reviving "Uses for Wood" with guitarist Gannon Alexander. They would often accompany Lucciana at some of her solo shows. Colin and Gannon, both great songwriters, have a high energy and upbeat performance style that Lucciana loved to be part of. They shared a style and an appreciation for roots music and started to intermingle each others songs in their sets. Lucciana now performs regularly with "Uses for Wood" on dobro and vocals as an acoustic trio and occasionally sits in with the full band version on "electric dobro."

Also joined by John Latini for select shows
