Behind the Coffee House is a show exploring working musicians and the art of performance. The coffee house movement in the late fifties and early sixties were the folk equivalent of the bebop or modern jazz eras. In these intimate settings, young songwriters like Bob Dylan honed their skills in front of small but appreciative audiences.

 

Take a look at some of the new generation of performing musicians with your host Lucciana Costa and her guests. Behind the Coffee House uses a combination of interview and on air performances to showcase the featured artist.

  Neil Jacobs

 Twelve string guitarist Neil Jacob has traveled the United States and Europe for more than 25 years. This award winning musician has been called "the rockin'est 12 string guitar since early Leo Kottke" by the Austin Chronicle. Neil's extensive touring of both Spain and the war torn countries of the Balkan Republic has culminated in his latest release "American Gypsy." Neil Jacobs is a musician not only influenced by the sound of eastern European folk music but one who has lived and traveled the back alleys with the Gypsy people.
